I don't discuss politics on the blog very often. There are plenty of places that you can find that, but not really so much this place. Here on the Evolution of the Me, you will find fanciful tales of debaucherous zeal, heartstring-tugging recants of early childhood rites of passage, and the occasional yarn spun at the expense of my family every 1st day of April. But politicians talk too much, as do the thousands of people that get paid to follow them around all day with pooper scoopers and videotape. That's just not my bag, baby.
However, this one time I did talk about when I saw Barack Obama speak. It was down at Reno's own Wingfield Amphitheater, and it got my attention enough to comment about him instead of my latest head injury or cocktail recipe. Well, I'm proud to say that even as a registered Republican, I have been pretty moved by the DNC this past couple of days, and it's simply undeniable that they are laying down the path. Finally, it feels like something different is about to happen, like this struggle that we are ALL faced with in our world right now is about to turn the corner. It feels like action is going to take place from the top down. Who can deny the passion and unromantic conviction that is the Obama-Biden combo? Did you HEAR Biden when he described the way his mom told him to "bloody their nose so you can walk down the street the next day"??? That's what he did to the bullies of his childhood, and THAT's what we need at the helm of this struggling ship...leadership with balls. Leadership with brains. It actually gives me, (a normally sarcastic, and lately, sullen type) something I haven't had for a while: Hope.

Yes Brian, it seems you have found a fan in my mother. She says, "I want to read HIS blog." Now, I'm not sure exactly what she meant by putting "his" in all caps, but it would appear that what she meant was, "I want to read HIS blog...INSTEAD." And because of this, I'm calling her a traitor. ANYWAY...your kids are adorable and your blog is extremely entertaining and insightful, and I'm glad to see you're voting for Barack. That means we can still be friends and I won't have to internalize my confusion and self-doubt as to why I didn't have you pegged as an idiot beforehand. I like it!
Hang in there, Bri -- we need you on O's team. Caribou Barbie ("Moose rifle, gut pile and blaze-orange vest sold separately") is very bad news, and McCain is worse.
I enjoyed Obama's speech at the Broncos' stadium very much (my new squeeze Patricia and I had tickets!), but a speech and a buck-fifty will get me a cup of coffee at my neighborhood coffeehouse.
Time to get medieval on the GOP's ass ... liars, SwiftBoaters, cheaters (see: Supreme Court, Bush v. Gore, 2000), snakes.
